The United States Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken, and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani recently met to discuss international relations and mutual cooperation between their countries. The meeting highlighted the strong alliance between the United States and Italy, emphasizing shared perspectives on global issues.

Foreign Minister Tajani expressed that "the United States is our main ally in the world," noting the excellent relations and collaboration on major international issues. He emphasized their united stance within NATO to ensure global peace and stability. Tajani also mentioned efforts towards achieving a ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza, alongside defending democracy in Ukraine. "Together, we work for peace—a just peace that means freedom, not surrender, for Kyiv," he stated.

Secretary Blinken reciprocated the sentiments by acknowledging the robust partnership between Italy and the United States. He praised Italy's leadership under Prime Minister Meloni and Foreign Minister Tajani during Italy’s G7 presidency. Blinken noted that both countries are aligned on addressing Russian aggression against Ukraine, challenges from China, and seeking sustainable peace in the Middle East.

Blinken concluded by expressing gratitude for Italy's leadership and collaboration: "In these areas and so many more, Italy, the United States, our G7 partners are the strongest of collaborators."

The meeting reaffirmed that transatlantic relations remain strong irrespective of governmental changes in either country.
