U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is preparing for an anticipated increase in border traffic during the holiday season at New York state land border crossings. Travelers are advised to expect some delays due to the heightened activity.

“We do typically see an increase in traffic during the holidays,” stated Donald Stakes, Acting Director of the Buffalo Field Office. “CBP plans and staffs accordingly to make sure that travelers can reach their destinations in a timely manner while still focusing on border security.”

To enhance their travel experience, CBP suggests several tips for holiday travelers. These include visiting CBP.gov for smart travel advice when traveling internationally and following their social media accounts on X (formerly Twitter) @CBPBuffalo and @DFOBuffalo.

CBP describes itself as "America's frontline: the nation's largest law enforcement organization and the world's first unified border management agency." The agency's workforce of over 65,000 personnel works to protect America across various domains, facilitate lawful travel and trade, ensure economic prosperity, and enhance national security through innovation and collaboration.
