San Diego Border Patrol arrests MS-13 gang member entering US illegally

Friday morning, U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Chula Vista Station apprehended a man identified as a member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang after he entered the United States illegally. The incident occurred on November 22, 2024, at around 3:15 a.m., when agents encountered a group of individuals crossing the border unlawfully. These individuals were subsequently arrested and taken to a nearby Border Patrol Station for processing.

During processing, it was found that one man had provided false biographical information, including claiming Mexican citizenship falsely. Further checks revealed that he is a 32-year-old citizen of El Salvador and an MS-13 gang member.

Chief Patrol Agent Patricia McGurk-Daniel stated, “I applaud our San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents for their diligence and dedication to protecting our country. Preventing dangerous people from entering our communities is our pledge to America.”

The detained individual remains in custody under the Department of Homeland Security while awaiting expedited removal to El Salvador.

In fiscal year 2024, San Diego Sector Border Patrol reported apprehending 26 known gang members, marking a 62.5% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
