Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, as reported by Spokesperson Matthew Miller. The discussion focused on battlefield updates and the incoming U.S. security and budgetary assistance packages for Ukraine.

Blinken conveyed his condolences for those affected by Russia's missile barrage on November 27-28, which targeted critical energy infrastructure in Ukraine. He assured full U.S. support for additional protections and countermeasures as winter approaches.

During the call, Blinken briefed Sybiha on U.S. goals for sustainable support for Ukraine, which will be addressed at upcoming diplomatic engagements with NATO and through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

The Secretary reaffirmed the United States' commitment to a sovereign and democratic Ukraine and its support for just and lasting peace based on the United Nations Charter.
