On December 1, 2024, U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken extended his well-wishes to the people of Romania on their National Day. In a statement, he remarked on the historical significance of Romania's unification over a century ago.

"Romania’s commitment to security and democracy in Europe is an inspiration for all nations," Blinken stated. He highlighted the collaboration between the United States and Romania in military modernization and NATO's eastern flank reinforcement efforts. The Secretary praised Romania for its support of Ukraine amid Russian aggression, noting its role in welcoming refugees and providing security assistance. "Your leadership in helping Ukrainian grain reach global markets has helped feed the world," he added.

Blinken emphasized the strong bilateral ties between the two countries, mentioning cooperation in energy transition efforts and commending Romania's focus on increasing solar, wind, nuclear capacity, and regional interconnectivity. He noted that business, educational, and cultural exchanges further illustrate the depth of their longstanding friendship.
