Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III has announced that the president has made new nominations for military leadership positions.

Army Lt. Gen. Joseph P. McGee is nominated for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with a new assignment as director of the Joint Staff at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. McGee is currently serving as director for Strategy, Plans, and Policy, J-5, Joint Staff; and senior member of the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations Military Staff at the Pentagon.

Additionally, Army Col. John W. Sannes has been nominated for appointment to the grade of brigadier general. Sannes is presently serving as deputy chief of staff for Operations, Plans and Experiments, G-3/5/7 at U.S. Army Futures Command in Austin, Texas.
