A Gloucester County man has been sentenced to 120 months in prison for drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms. U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced the sentencing of George W. Joyce, 40, from Glassboro, who had previously pleaded guilty to charges of possessing with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and possessing a firearm as a felon.

The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn in Camden federal court. The case stems from a search conducted on March 29, 2023, at Joyce's residence in Glassboro, New Jersey. Law enforcement officers recovered approximately 2,587 methamphetamine pills and two loaded firearms from his bedroom. Joyce admitted to intending to distribute the drugs and unlawfully possessing the firearms due to his status as a felon.

In addition to the prison term, Judge O’Hearn ordered Joyce to serve four years of supervised release following his incarceration.

U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited special agents from the FBI’s Wilmington Resident Agency for their investigation under Special Agent in Charge William J. DelBagno in Baltimore. He also acknowledged contributions from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware, FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office, Delaware State Police, and New Castle County Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bender represented the government in this case.
