Brian Scott, a 44-year-old resident of Albany, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for his involvement in drug trafficking. This sentence will be followed by five years of supervised release. The charges against Scott include conspiring to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine and 100 kilograms of marijuana, as well as distributing cocaine.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman, alongside Craig L. Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the FBI; New York State Police Superintendent Steven G. James; and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
Scott had previously pleaded guilty to being part of a drug trafficking organization that operated between June 2020 and October 2023. He admitted to participating in the transportation and distribution of cocaine and marijuana between the Capital Region and the North Country. According to his plea, Scott used couriers referred to as “horses” for this purpose.
He further confessed to trafficking at least seven kilograms of cocaine obtained from a co-conspirator and selling over 400 grams to another individual.
In addition to his prison sentence, Scott has been ordered to forfeit $4,865 seized during his arrest and pay a forfeiture money judgment amounting to $17,180.
The case was investigated by the FBI, New York State Police, and HSI with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cyrus P.W. Rieck and Joseph Hartunian.
