A Washington State resident, Seth Lee Fabry, 34, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to coercion and enticement of a minor. The sentence includes 20 years of supervised release. Fabry's conviction stems from incidents beginning in April 2022 when he engaged with a minor on social media platforms Discord and MeetMe. Despite knowing the minor's age, Fabry persuaded them to send explicit images and later traveled twice from Washington to Oregon in May 2022 to sexually abuse the minor.

On May 29, 2022, Fabry attempted another visit but was intercepted by the victim’s mother who contacted law enforcement, leading to his arrest. Subsequently, a federal grand jury in Eugene charged him with sexually exploiting a child and traveling with intent for illicit sexual conduct.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI with support from the Eugene Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey S. Sweet prosecuted the case for the District of Oregon.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about child exploitation to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov. The FBI Child Exploitation Task Force (CETF) works closely with various law enforcement agencies on such cases, focusing on apprehending offenders and aiding victims.

Federal law categorizes child pornography as any visual depiction involving minors in sexually explicit acts. Such materials are not only evidence of crimes against children but also continue victimizing them each time they are shared online. More information is available through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at www.missingkids.org.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Justice Department in May 2006 aimed at addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. Additional details can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
