A Cut Bank resident, Elijah John Bullcalf, has admitted to assaulting a teenage girl and fracturing her jaw on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich.
Bullcalf, 21, entered a guilty plea to charges of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison, along with a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris is overseeing the case. Sentencing is scheduled for April 10, 2025. Bullcalf remains in custody as he awaits further legal proceedings.
According to court documents presented by the government, the incident occurred on May 25, 2023. Bullcalf assaulted Jane Doe, then aged 17, during an argument at a residence in Browning on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The altercation resulted in Doe suffering a broken jaw, which required medical attention the following day. Approximately one month later, Bullcalf allegedly struck Doe again in the same area of her jaw, causing additional pain and bleeding.
In early 2024, Doe and her mother reported the incidents to law enforcement authorities. Bullcalf subsequently confessed to the assaults.
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office with investigative efforts conducted by the FBI and Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services.
