Timothy Wyllie, a 60-year-old resident of Granger, Indiana, has been sentenced to 121 months in prison. The sentencing was handed down by United States District Court Judge Cristal C. Brisco following Wyllie's guilty plea to charges of possessing child pornography, as announced by United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
Wyllie's sentence also includes 15 years of supervised release after his time in prison. Court documents reveal that in April 2023, Wyllie was released from prison after serving nearly 20 years for state child molestation and federal distribution of child pornography convictions. However, within two months of his release, he began uploading files containing child sexual abuse material to social media platforms and downloaded hundreds of similar images from the internet while under federal supervision and state parole.
The investigation into Wyllie's activities was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorneys Hannah T Jones and Joseph P. Falvey prosecuted the case.
This legal action is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 aimed at protecting children from exploitation and abuse. This project coordinates resources at the federal, state, and local levels to prosecute offenders who exploit children and rescue victims.
