U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry seized a cache of weapons, magazines, and ammunition during an outbound examination. The incident occurred on December 11 at the Camino Real International Bridge.

Port Director Pete Beattie commented on the operation, stating, "Our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain strict vigilance in both the inbound and outbound environment and that mission dedication resulted in a significant outbound weapons interception." He added that such seizures exemplify CBP's commitment to securing the U.S.-Mexico border.

During a secondary inspection of a 1998 Dodge, CBP officers discovered 13 weapons, 26 magazines, and 40 rounds of ammunition hidden within the vehicle. The discovery was made possible through thorough examination methods including CBP canines and non-intrusive inspection systems.

The confiscated items were taken by CBP officers while Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents have initiated a criminal investigation into the matter.
