Monongalia County woman receives 14-year sentence for drug trafficking

Anette Sanabria-Velez, a 40-year-old resident of Morgantown and Granville, West Virginia, has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison. The sentence was handed down for her involvement in drug trafficking activities, specifically possession with intent to distribute cocaine hydrochloride.

Court documents and statements revealed that Sanabria-Velez was involved in trafficking cocaine within Monongalia County. She reportedly conducted some of these activities from her home. Her operations included traveling to Puerto Rico to order drugs, which were then shipped to various locations in West Virginia and Maryland for distribution. During the investigation, authorities seized more than four kilograms of cocaine from her vehicle and residence.

Following her prison term, Sanabria-Velez will be subjected to three years of supervised release.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley on behalf of the government. The investigation was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the proceedings.
