The release of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" has made a significant economic impact on Colombia, contributing over 225 billion Colombian pesos to the country's economy. This figure includes direct spending on production and additional downstream spending in the supply chain, according to Netflix data.

The project highlights Colombia's appeal as a destination for international productions due to its diverse landscapes, talent, and high-quality services. The country's production incentives have facilitated ambitious projects like this one in Latin America.

A commitment with the García Márquez family ensured that Macondo would be brought to life in Colombia by Colombian hands. Filmed entirely in Colombia and produced by Dynamo, the series involved more than 900 people, most of whom were Colombian.

In Alvarado, Tolima, Macondo was constructed on a 540,000 square meter plot. The locations team managed various logistical tasks including road improvements and land preparation. The project engaged around 150 artisans from across the country and collaborated with over 850 local suppliers.

The series' music features contributions from Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Toto La Momposina's drummer Carmelo Torres, and Víctor Navarro. Costume design included approximately 40,000 garments made mostly from Colombian textiles.

The series is available on Netflix as of December 11 and has received acclaim from international critics. An exhibition showcasing memorable moments from the production is open at Museo El Chicó in Bogotá until December 18.

"One Hundred Years of Solitude" consists of two parts with eight episodes each. Directors for Part 1 include Alex García López and Laura Mora. Executive producers are Diego Ramírez Schrempp among others. It was filmed across several departments in Colombia including La Guajira and Tolima.
