National Farmers Union (NFU) President Rob Larew has expressed frustration with Congress, urging them to address the needs of family farmers and ranchers before the year ends. In a statement, Larew highlighted the challenges faced by these communities and criticized Congress for not securing essential support.
"Family farmers and ranchers across the country are battling relentless challenges," Larew stated. He noted that despite increasing pressures, Congress seems poised to adjourn without providing necessary aid. The NFU has been advocating for a farm bill extension that includes economic and disaster assistance for these agricultural workers.
Larew emphasized the urgency of reaching an agreement before year's end. "Time is running out to secure a deal before the end of the year," he said, calling on lawmakers to fulfill their obligations to rural America. He also pointed out that Congress has yet to finalize a five-year farm bill.
The NFU president encouraged Farmers Union members to contact their elected officials, urging them not to return home until they have secured immediate support for family farmers and ranchers.
