U. S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger | U.S. Department of Justice
A Stillwater man, Wayne Robert Lund, has been indicted on charges related to the illegal possession of explosives and firearms. U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced the charges, which include possession of unregistered firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Court documents reveal that on November 2, 2024, Lund, aged 46, was found with eight destructive devices not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. Due to prior felony convictions in Ramsey and Anoka Counties, federal law prohibits him from possessing firearms, explosives, or ammunition.
Lund faces multiple charges: one count each for possession of unregistered firearms, possessing explosives as a felon, possessing firearms as a felon, and possession of ammunition as a felon. His initial court appearance took place on December 11, 2024, before Magistrate Judge Dulce J. Foster. Magistrate Judge David T. Schultz ordered Lund to remain in custody pending further proceedings at his detention hearing.
The investigation involved several agencies including the FBI; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Oak Park Heights Police Department; Stillwater Police Department; Saint Paul Police Department; Saint Croix County Sheriff's Department in Wisconsin; and assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Bejar is leading the prosecution. It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation and Lund is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
