The U.S. Department of the Treasury has formally notified the Republic of Belarus regarding the suspension of a specific provision in the 1973 Tax Convention originally signed with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The suspension pertains to paragraph 1, subparagraph (g), of Article III of the Convention and is set to be effective from December 17, 2024, until December 31, 2026. However, it may end earlier if both governments reach a mutual decision.

This move comes after Belarus expressed its intent on March 21, 2024, to suspend this part of the Convention until the end of 2026.
