A Dominican man, Salvador Reynoso-Perez, has pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal reentry into the United States after being deported. The plea was entered in Boston, where U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs has scheduled his sentencing for March 25, 2025.

Reynoso-Perez, aged 38, faced an indictment in November 2024 on one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. This follows his previous deportations from the United States, with the most recent occurring on March 16, 2021. After this removal, he reentered the country unlawfully and was discovered by immigration authorities on September 17, 2024. At that time, Reynoso-Perez was serving a state sentence related to possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance.

The charge he faces carries potential penalties including up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine reaching $250,000. Sentencing decisions are made by federal district court judges who consider U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and relevant statutes.

The announcement regarding Reynoso-Perez's plea was made by United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy alongside Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director for Boston’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Sullivan from the Major Crimes Unit.
