The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has expressed its support for a Border Package aimed at securing the border against "criminal aliens, terrorists, and fentanyl" through the budget reconciliation process. This statement was made in a December 11 post on X.
"The Border Patrol Union fully supports the passing of a transformational Border Package in the budget reconciliation process that will secure the border from the open-border policies that have allowed an untold number of criminal aliens, terrorists, and fentanyl to enter our country illegally," said Border Patrol Union, Border Patrol Union. "We need the tools, resources, and funding to ensure that we can move quickly to end the chaos that has reigned during the current administration."
According to a report from the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a secure border is essential for American security, safety, and economic stability. The report highlights illegal immigration, human and drug trafficking, and cartel violence as examples of the current crisis at the border.

The report from the Texas Public Policy Foundation further emphasizes that lawmakers need to prioritize border security through the budget reconciliation process. This procedure allows legislation to be passed with 51 votes instead of the usual 60, thereby avoiding a filibuster in the Senate.
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is leading Congress's first legislative package, as reported by the Washington Times. Graham is particularly focused on securing the border and acknowledges the significance of using budget reconciliation.
"While I support spending restrictions and tax cuts, my top priority – and the first order of business in the Senate Budget Committee – is to secure a broken border," Graham said in a December 9 post on X. "The bill will be transformational, it will be paid for, and it will go first."
The NBPC represents 18,000 Border Patrol agents, with 90% of eligible agents being members of this union.
