Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a new series, "The Åre Murders," set to premiere on February 6, 2025. The show is based on two books by Swedish author Viveca Sten, titled "Hidden in Snow" and "Hidden in the Shadows." These books are part of "The Åre Murders" series, which has been published in over 40 countries and sold more than 10 million copies.

Viveca Sten expressed her excitement about the adaptation: “The Åre Murders means a lot to me and I'm very excited that it's now time for the TV series to see the light of day on a leading streaming service like Netflix! Both as the author of the books and executive producer of the series, it's hugely exciting to see the characters come to life through such talented actors. My dream, of course, is that the TV series will be just as popular and successful as the books have been both in Sweden and abroad."

The story follows police officer Hanna Ahlander who finds herself suspended from her job in Stockholm. After being dumped by her partner, she moves to her sister's vacation home in Åre. There, she becomes involved in investigating a missing person's case alongside local police officer Daniel Lindskog.

The main cast includes Carla Sehn, Kardo Razzazi, Charlie Gustafsson, Francisco Sobrado, Amalia Holm, Frida Argento, Agnes Kittelsen, Jon Øigarden, Robin Stegmar, Olle Sarri, Samuel Astor, and Moa Gammel. The directors are Joakim Eliasson and Alain Darborg with scriptwriters Karin Gidfors and Jimmy Lindgren. The production is handled by SF Studios with Brita H Lundqvist as producer.

Netflix continues its global reach with this new addition to its diverse lineup. With 283 million paid memberships across over 190 countries enjoying content across various genres and languages.
