A Connecticut woman, Basneyareth Rebollar-Martinez, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for her involvement in an organized burglary ring targeting residences primarily owned by individuals of Asian descent. The sentencing was announced by United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha.

Rebollar-Martinez, 28, from Stamford, CT, received her sentence from U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith. In addition to the prison term, she will undergo three years of federal supervised release and must pay $722,420 in restitution to her victims. As a Mexican national, she faces deportation following her incarceration.

On September 12, 2023, Rebollar-Martinez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property. She admitted that between July 2022 and January 2023, she collaborated with others to burglarize or attempt burglaries at ten residences across eight states including Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. The targets were chosen based on the assumption they contained significant cash or valuables.

Court information revealed that forensic audits of cell phones used by Rebollar-Martinez and her co-conspirators showed evidence of surveillance on victims at their workplaces such as Chinese restaurants and nail salons. GPS trackers were placed on victims' vehicles to monitor their whereabouts. Drones were also employed for surveillance. The group executed the burglaries with members acting as lookouts or drivers while others forced entry into homes. Stolen items were transported and sold for profit.

The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorneys Ly T. Chin and Julianne Klein. The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations alongside multiple police departments across several states including Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Delaware, New Jersey, New York City; as well as state police departments from Massachusetts and Pennsylvania; and the United States Postal Inspection Service.
