Evan Cutler, a 25-year-old resident of Queensbury, New York, has been sentenced to 44 months in prison for leading a bank fraud conspiracy that targeted SEFCU. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Court records indicate that between February 2022 and October 2022, Cutler collaborated with codefendant Allahson Allah, aged 54 from Albany. They orchestrated a scheme to obtain personal identifying information from SEFCU customers. Using this information, they impersonated individuals to illegally acquire cash and credit from the financial institution. Additionally, they applied for loans under stolen identities and withdrew the proceeds in cash. The conspiracy resulted in actual gains of $88,800 with intended losses exceeding $100,000.

The sentencing of Cutler marks the conclusion of the investigation into this conspiracy. Other coconspirators have also received their sentences:

- Allah received a sentence of 57 months in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision. He was ordered to pay restitution amounting to $88,800.

- Caeshara Cannon, aged 36 from Albany, was sentenced to 16 months in prison followed by two years of post-release supervision and ordered to pay restitution totaling $77,200.

- Davon Parson, aged 20 from Albany, received a sentence of 15 months incarceration followed by two years post-release supervision with restitution set at $9,000.

- Dnauticah Taylor-Sterman, aged 22 from Albany, was sentenced to eight months imprisonment followed by three years post-release supervision with restitution ordered at $25,000.

The case was investigated by HSI with support from the Bethlehem Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin S. Clark.
