Kaelin Williams, a 27-year-old resident of Alexandria, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for illegal possession of a machine gun. This decision was made by United States District Judge Dee D. Drell, as announced by U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown. In addition to his prison sentence, Williams will face two years of supervised release.

Williams was indicted on one count of illegal possession of a machine gun and entered a guilty plea on August 21, 2024. The charge stems from a federal search conducted on March 1, 2024, at the residence he shared with his brother in Alexandria. During the search, law enforcement found him in possession of two Anderson Model AM-15 AR-Type multi-caliber pistols equipped with machine gun conversion devices. Additional "Glock switches," known for converting firearms into machine guns, were also discovered at the scene. Williams admitted to agents that he was aware these devices were illegal.

The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Homeland Security Investigations, and the Alexandria Police Department. The prosecution was led by Assistant United States Attorney Lauren L. Gardner.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through collaboration between various levels of law enforcement and community partners. The program is part of the Department's effort to target violent criminals and create safer communities across the nation.
