Erik P. Grant, a 32-year-old resident of Schererville, Indiana, has been sentenced to 168 months in prison by United States District Court Judge Gretchen S. Lund. The sentencing follows Grant's guilty plea to charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine. United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson announced the sentence.
In addition to his prison term, Grant will undergo three years of supervised release. Court documents reveal that between November 2022 and July 2023, Grant and his mother, Debra Moore, conspired in distributing methamphetamine. While detained at Porter County Jail, Moore took over the drug dealing operation from her son and continued selling methamphetamine on several occasions.
Grant's criminal record includes six prior felony convictions. The case was investigated by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael J. Toth.
