A Camden man, Semaj A. Gilmore, was sentenced to 260 months in prison for trafficking three minors for commercial sex acts. U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced the sentencing today.
Gilmore, aged 34, had previously pleaded guilty before U.S. Chief District Judge Renée Marie Bumb to three counts of a superseding indictment related to sex trafficking minors. The sentence was imposed by Judge Bumb in Camden federal court.
Court documents and statements reveal that from September 2020 to April 2021, Gilmore transported three minor victims from Philadelphia to New Jersey with the knowledge that they would engage in commercial sex acts under his direction. At that time, all victims were under the age of 18. Additionally, during this period, Gilmore was required to register as a sex offender due to a prior conviction.
Apart from the prison sentence, Judge Bumb also sentenced Gilmore to ten years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited the FBI’s South Jersey Resident Agency's special agents for their investigation leading to this sentencing. He also expressed gratitude towards the Mount Laurel Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance.
The government representation in this case includes Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bender and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn Waegener from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Camden.
