Attorney Prim F. Escalona | U.S. Department of Justice
A convicted felon from Birmingham has been sentenced to over 11 years in prison for drug and gun-related offenses. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Carlton Peeples.
Waymon Lanar Robinson, Jr., aged 31, received a 140-month sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Annemarie Axon. Robinson had previously pleaded guilty to several charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl; carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime; and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents reveal that on March 1, 2023, deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance on a house linked to the gang "Hard2Kill" in Tarrant, Alabama. During this operation, officers performed a traffic stop near the property where they observed Robinson concealing an item inside his pants before walking away. Upon approaching him, officers asked if he was armed; Robinson confirmed he had a Glock .40 caliber pistol in his waistband. A search revealed he also carried fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydrocodone pills, heroin, and marijuana inside a Crown Royal Bag within his pants.
The investigation was carried out by the FBI alongside the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany Byrd handled the prosecution of this case.
