Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and James E. Dennehy, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI's New York Field Office, have announced charges against Fred Mastroianni and Doreen Mastroianni. The siblings face accusations of cyberstalking, extortion, and conspiracy to commit extortion. They are scheduled to appear in White Plains federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Victoria Reznik on December 11, 2024.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams stated: “As alleged, Fred and Doreen Mastroianni have cyberstalked and conspired to extort victims by threatening to release compromising images of them to the public.” He emphasized that despite Fred's current imprisonment for child pornography offenses, efforts continue to protect the community from exploitation.

FBI Assistant Director James E. Dennehy remarked: “The Mastroianni siblings allegedly preyed on individuals who were victimized by Fred Mastroianni; stalking and conspiring to extort them for the siblings’ financial benefit.” He affirmed that sexual exploitation will not be tolerated.

According to the unsealed complaint, Fred Mastroianni is serving a 35-year sentence for receiving and distributing child pornography and sexually exploiting a minor. Since October 2024, he and his sister Doreen have allegedly been involved in a scheme to extort victims by threatening to release explicit materials unless they contribute money or purchase an insurance policy benefiting Fred.

The FBI has urged anyone with information about potential victims to contact their tip line.

Fred Mastroianni, aged 54 from White Plains, New York, and Doreen Mastroianni, aged 69 from Yorktown Heights, New York, each face charges carrying significant prison sentences if convicted. The maximum penalties include five years for cyberstalking and conspiracy charges and two years for interstate extortion.

This case is managed by the Office’s White Plains Division with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ryan W. Allison, Margaret N. Vasu, and Courtney Heavey leading the prosecution efforts.

The charges remain allegations until proven otherwise in court.
