The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado has announced that Marquis Taylor, 28, and Elijah Woods, 21, have been indicted by a federal grand jury. They face charges of conspiracy, assault with intent to rob a U.S. Postal Carrier, and mail theft.
Court documents reveal that in September 2023, Taylor, Woods, and Dravell Emon Ross, 28, committed a strong-arm robbery against a postal carrier who was on duty in her mail truck during her lunch break. The incident took place near Utah Park in Aurora during daylight hours. The men attempted to steal a universal mailbox key from the postal carrier to access community mailboxes but were unsuccessful. However, they did manage to steal various pieces of mail, packages, and a postal scanner. The postal carrier sustained minor injuries during the robbery.
Dravell Emon Ross was sentenced on July 17, 2024, to four years in federal prison for his involvement in the robbery. Marquis Taylor was arrested on November 13, 2024; he remains detained pending trial. Elijah Woods was released on bond while his charges are still pending. Their trial is scheduled for March 31, 2025.
The United States Postal Inspection Service is conducting the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney Tim Neff is handling the prosecution.
