A Louisville man, Nathan Cole, aged 28, has been sentenced to a decade in prison for trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Robert Wier on Tuesday.
Cole's conviction stems from an incident on April 21, 2023, when he sold drugs to a confidential informant at a restaurant in London, Kentucky. According to the plea agreement, Cole distributed 1,000 pills containing fentanyl weighing approximately 111 grams and also sold 237 grams of methamphetamine.
Under federal law, Cole is required to serve at least 85 percent of his prison term. Following his release, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for five years.
The announcement of the sentencing was made jointly by Carlton S. Shier IV, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Jim Scott, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Louisville Field Division.
The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation leading to Cole's arrest and prosecution. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Blankenship is handling the case for the government.
