A woman from Jonancy, Kentucky, Sasha Adkins, 37, received a sentence of 135 months in prison for drug trafficking offenses. Chief U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves delivered the sentence on Thursday. Adkins was charged with possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

The charges stem from an incident on June 16, 2023, when law enforcement officials confiscated approximately 360 grams of methamphetamine, around 28 grams of fentanyl, $4,975 in cash, and 12 firearms from Adkins' home. According to her plea agreement, she intended to distribute the drugs.

Federal law mandates that Adkins serve at least 85 percent of her sentence. Following her release, she will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for five years.

The sentencing announcement was made by Carlton S. Shier IV, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Michael Stansbury, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Louisville Field Division; and Col. Phillip J. Burnett Jr., Commissioner of the Kentucky State Police.

The investigation was carried out by the FBI and Kentucky State Police (KSP). Assistant U.S. Attorney Drew Trimble is handling the prosecution for this case.
