The Department of Defense has announced the repatriation of Ridah Bin Saleh al-Yazidi from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility to Tunisia. Al-Yazidi, identified as ISN 038, was deemed eligible for transfer following a comprehensive interagency review process established by Executive Order 13492 in 2009.

Secretary of Defense Austin informed Congress on January 31, 2024, of his decision to support this repatriation. The requirements for a responsible transfer were completed in collaboration with Tunisian authorities.

Currently, there are 26 detainees remaining at Guantanamo Bay. Of these, 14 are eligible for transfer, three are eligible for a Periodic Review Board, seven are involved in military commissions proceedings, and two have been convicted and sentenced by military commissions.
