A resident of Muskogee County, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material. Thomas Edward Gailus, 51, from Webbers Falls, entered a guilty plea to one count of possession of certain material involving the sexual exploitation of a minor.
The indictment stated that between April 2018 and March 23, 2023, Gailus knowingly accessed and possessed visual depictions from the internet showing minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The images were allegedly accessed with the intent to view them.
The charges followed an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted the plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and ordered a presentence investigation report. Gailus is currently in custody under the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessie Pippin and Dak Cohen, along with U.S. Department of Justice Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section Trial Attorney Gwendelynn Bills.
