A recent webinar organized by the NFIB Legal Center focused on tax strategies for small businesses in 2025. The session, titled "Small Business Tax Planning for 2025 – Essential Deductions and Savings Strategies," featured Toby Mathis, Esq., Managing Partner and President of Anderson Business Advisors. Mathis discussed various aspects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including potential proposals from the new administration.
During the webinar, Mathis offered advice on how small business owners can maximize their tax savings. He highlighted opportunities that are often overlooked, such as deductions related to health care insurance and home office expenses.
The event also touched upon a significant issue: "One of the items the new administration hopes to accomplish is the extension of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passed in 2017, including the 20% Small Business Deduction (199A)." This deduction is seen as crucial by many small business advocates.
NFIB's position on this matter is clear: "Stopping the massive tax hike is critical for the future of small businesses, and Congress must make the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent." The organization has initiated a petition campaign urging over 95,000 small business owners to support making this deduction permanent.
The full webinar can be accessed on demand. The next NFIB Small Business Legal Center webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5.
