U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello | U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono
A Honduran national, Marlon Pineda-Enamorado, was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for illegally reentering the United States after being previously deported. The sentencing took place on December 5, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama.
Pineda-Enamorado was initially arrested by the Robertsdale Police Department on January 1, 2023, for first-degree arson. Following his arrest, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was informed. An investigation revealed that Pineda had been removed from the U.S. twice before and lacked legal permission to be in the country at the time of his arrest.
In a separate state court case, Pineda was convicted of first-degree arson and received a 20-year prison sentence from the Baldwin County Circuit Court on November 11, 2024. After serving his sentence, he will be handed over to immigration officials for deportation proceedings.
The announcement of Pineda's federal sentencing was made by U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama. The case involved investigations by ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations along with the Robertsdale Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Kopf prosecuted the case.
