Amy Parks, a 57-year-old resident of Sioux City, Iowa, has been sentenced to 102 months in federal prison following her guilty plea to charges of methamphetamine distribution conspiracy and firearm possession during drug trafficking. The sentence was handed down on January 2, 2025, by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.
Parks had entered her guilty plea in federal court on June 27, 2024. According to evidence presented at the hearings, she was involved in a conspiracy from January 2021 through June 2023 that distributed ten pounds of methamphetamine. During seven occasions in 2023, Parks participated in the distribution of between a quarter and half a pound of methamphetamine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.
On June 19, 2023, Parks was arrested after law enforcement searched her residence. The search led to the seizure of approximately two ounces of methamphetamine, digital scales, paraphernalia related to drug use and distribution, cash, and a loaded 9mm firearm. Parks admitted to possessing the handgun in furtherance of her drug trafficking activities.
In addition to her prison term, Parks will serve a three-year term of supervised release upon completion of her sentence. It is noted that there is no parole available within the federal system. Until she can be transferred to a federal prison facility, Parks remains in custody under the supervision of the United States Marshal.
