The United States and France convened for the third Defense Trade Strategic Dialogue (DTSG) on December 17 in Paris. This meeting was co-chaired by senior officials from the U.S. Department of State and Department of Defense, alongside representatives from France's Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Ministry of the Armed Forces.
The dialogue is designed to enhance defense market access and streamline export controls. It employs working groups to address a variety of topics, including export regulations and international export control regimes. During the recent DTSG, updates were provided by these groups, with discussions focusing on supply security, export regulations, and international export regimes.
Both nations recognize that current global conditions and emerging strategic challenges necessitate close collaboration on international armaments issues. The dialogue aims to ensure efficient defense trade between the countries while implementing effective export controls.
