U.S. Attorney Susan T. Lehr | U.S. Department of Justice
United States Attorney Susan Lehr announced that Taft Burtton, 52, from Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced in a federal court for his involvement in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. On January 3, 2025, Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr., handed down a sentence of 120 months' imprisonment to Burtton. Following his release from prison, Burtton will serve a five-year term of supervised release.
The case stems from an incident on February 15, 2023, when the Drug Enforcement Administration Overdose Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in Omaha known for selling fentanyl. During the operation, suspects identified Burtton as their source of fentanyl. Law enforcement then conducted an undercover operation that led to Burtton's arrest when he arrived at the residence with 99 grams of fentanyl.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
