Trump's pick for FBI Director: 'Committed to defeating the Mexican drug cartels'

Kash Patel, selected by President-elect Donald Trump as the next FBI Director, expressed a commitment to combating cartels and protecting American children from exploitation. This statement was made following a meeting with U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and was shared in a post on X on December 10.

"I just wrapped a wonderful meeting with Senator Lindsey Graham," said Kash Patel, FBI Director Nominee, Nominee for FBI Director. "We're both committed to defeating the Mexican drug cartels and protecting American children from exploitation. I'm looking forward to working with him throughout this confirmation process."

According to the Washington Times, Senator Graham emphasized that border security is his primary concern for the forthcoming congressional legislative package. "While I support spending restrictions and tax cuts, my top priority — and the first order of business in the Senate Budget Committee — is to secure a broken border," Graham said.

Fox News reported that President-elect Trump defended Patel's nomination. "This FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border," Trump said.

U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska expressed his support for Patel's nomination in an Instagram post after meeting with him. Sullivan said, "I look forward to working with Kash and the rest of the Trump administration to ensure we rein in violent crime, including in Alaska where the drug cartel presence, fentanyl, and domestic violence remain serious issues."

USA Today reported that Patel previously served as a national security official during Trump's first administration. He has now been chosen by Trump to lead the FBI during his upcoming term.
