A Marion man, Cory Gall, has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor. Gall, aged 30, was found guilty by a jury on July 3, 2024. Evidence presented during the trial revealed that in December 2023, Gall engaged in text message exchanges with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. This individual was actually an undercover law enforcement officer.

The messages included descriptions of sexual acts Gall intended to perform with the minor. He traveled to Hiawatha, Iowa, intending to meet her. United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams delivered the sentence in Cedar Rapids.

Gall's sentence includes a five-year supervised release following his imprisonment. In the federal system, there is no option for parole.

Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel prosecuted the case. The investigation involved Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Hiawatha Police Department.
