Walmart GoLocal and IBM have announced a collaboration to integrate Walmart's delivery service into IBM Sterling Order Management. This partnership aims to enhance last-mile delivery solutions for retailers using IBM's platform.
The integration will allow IBM retail clients who sign up with Walmart GoLocal to incorporate its suite of last-mile delivery solutions directly into their business systems. Last-mile delivery is often the most challenging and expensive part of the supply chain, exacerbated by consumer demands for faster deliveries. Walmart GoLocal provides a range of options, including same-day, next-day, multi-day, scheduled, batched deliveries, and handling big & bulky items.
Rina Hurst, vice president of Walmart GoLocal, stated: "As a last-mile delivery partner built by retail, for retail, Walmart GoLocal is committed to streamlining the last-mile delivery process for our clients." She added that integrating with IBM Sterling allows customers to access an extensive network and robust capabilities in last-mile delivery.
Chris Townsend from IBM expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: "I'm excited to see IBM's expertise in order management and interoperability paired with Walmart GoLocal's experience and scale."
The partnership will be showcased at the National Retail Federation 2025 conference where both companies will host a joint discussion featuring Hurst and Townsend.
