Latimer County man pleads guilty to federal firearm charge

A resident of Latimer County, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to a federal firearm charge. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma reported that Dustin Lee Harp, 41, from Wilburton, Oklahoma, admitted guilt to one count of illegal receipt of a firearm by a person under indictment or information.

According to the indictment, Harp received a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle between December 12, 2020, and December 9, 2021. At the time, he was under indictment or information for an offense that could result in imprisonment for more than one year.

The charges against Harp were the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson accepted Harp's plea in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and has ordered a presentence investigation report.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jarrod Leaman and Edith Singer on behalf of the United States.
