Agents of the U.S. Border Patrol's San Diego Sector have apprehended a man wanted by INTERPOL for the sexual abuse of a minor. The arrest took place on January 3, 2025, when an agent conducting routine patrols north of the international border near Dulzura stopped a suspicious SUV on State Route 94 for an immigration inspection.

During this inspection, it was discovered that two passengers in the vehicle were in the United States illegally. Both passengers and the driver were taken into custody and transported to a nearby Border Patrol station for further processing.

At the station, checks revealed that the driver, a 44-year-old Spanish citizen, was not only in the country illegally but also subject to an INTERPOL Red Notice. This notice indicates a request for law enforcement globally to locate and provisionally arrest an individual pending extradition or similar legal action. In addition to being wanted by INTERPOL, U.S. Marshals and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had been seeking him due to his status under the Red Notice.

Following these developments, all three individuals were processed for removal from the United States, and INTERPOL was informed about the arrest. The vehicle involved was seized by Border Patrol agents.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) emphasizes its role as America's frontline law enforcement organization and unified border management agency. CBP consists of over 65,000 personnel dedicated to protecting America across various domains while facilitating lawful travel and trade to ensure economic prosperity.
