Emmanuel D. Gibson, a 34-year-old resident of Fairmont, West Virginia, has confessed to charges related to the possession and intent to distribute fentanyl. The incident leading to these charges involved an attempted traffic stop by the Westover Police, which resulted in a pursuit ending with Gibson's arrest.

Court documents and statements revealed that during the search of Gibson's vehicle, law enforcement discovered fentanyl-laced pills, additional controlled substances, two firearms, and drug paraphernalia.

Gibson could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. The final sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge who will take into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines along with other statutory considerations.

The prosecution is being led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christie Utt. The investigation was conducted jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Westover Police Department. The proceedings were overseen by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi.
