EPA Region 7 invites public to virtual environmental justice stakeholder meeting

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

EPA Region 7 is organizing a virtual Community Stakeholder Meeting on January 16, inviting public participation from the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and nine tribal nations. This meeting will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The Environmental Justice (EJ) program within EPA Region 7 emphasizes the "just treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of income, race, color, national origin, tribal affiliation, or disability," in decision-making processes that impact human health and the environment.

Participants in this session will have the chance to learn about several initiatives including Environmental Justice Grant Programs and a Draft Framework for considering cumulative impacts on communities. The meeting also offers networking opportunities and information on Region 7 Supplemental Environmental Projects.

Attendees can engage with EJ program staff to ask questions and share concerns. While not all questions may be answered during the meeting itself, EPA staff will document inquiries and direct them to relevant experts within Region 7. Spanish-language interpretation is available upon request during registration.

Individuals interested in attending are encouraged to register through the provided link. Suggested discussion topics or questions can be submitted at any time via email to R7-EJ-Stakeholders@epa.gov. For further inquiries regarding the meeting, contact EPA Region 7’s customer service line at 1-800-223-0425 and ask for Greg Cotter.
