Tampa man pleads guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material

Roger B. Handberg, U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida

A Tampa man, Jack Rocker, has entered a guilty plea for possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The announcement was made by United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg. Rocker, aged 19, could face up to 20 years in federal prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender and provide restitution to the victims involved. Additionally, the government is seeking forfeiture of his cellphone, thumb drive, and laptop used in committing the offense. His sentencing is set for March 14, 2025.

Court documents reveal that Rocker was part of a network known as "764," which comprises racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists. This group uses online platforms to support the possession and distribution of extreme gore media and CSAM.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a search at Rocker's residence on January 19, 2024. They seized electronic devices containing over 8,300 images and videos of CSAM. These materials included depictions of infant and toddler sexual abuse, masochistic behavior, and bestiality.

The investigation was carried out by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Ilyssa Spergel and Karyna Valdes.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates efforts among federal, state, and local resources to apprehend offenders and rescue victims.
