Jeff Allen Adkins, a 66-year-old resident of Fayetteville, has been sentenced to 12 years and eight months in prison. This sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release. The charges against Adkins were possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The case details reveal that on May 8, 2022, Adkins was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by law enforcement officers in Oak Hill. During the search of the vehicle, officers discovered approximately 113 grams of fentanyl and 109 grams of methamphetamine. Adkins admitted to possessing these controlled substances with the intention to distribute them.
Adkins's criminal record includes prior convictions for grand larceny, breaking and entering, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, hit and run, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
United States Attorney Will Thompson announced the sentencing and praised the efforts of the Oak Hill Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in their investigation.
Chief United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston imposed the sentence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Timothy D. Boggess, Alexander A. Redmon, and Ryan Blackwell.
