The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona has released the outcomes of its Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) program over the past four years. The OCDETF initiative is aimed at identifying, disrupting, and dismantling high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that pose threats to the United States. This is achieved through a collaborative approach involving federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Since January 2021, the OCDETF program in Arizona has resulted in charges against 536 defendants across 174 separate indictments. The collaboration includes several federal agencies such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Drug Enforcement Administration; Diplomatic Security Service; Federal Bureau of Investigation; Homeland Security Investigations; Internal Revenue Service; U.S. Marshals Service; and U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

Several notable cases have emerged from this program:

- In "United States v. Nestor Hernandez-Morales," Hernandez-Morales was sentenced to 96 months in prison for drug trafficking activities.

- "United States v. Jose Raul Diaz-Acedo" involved a smuggling attempt intercepted by Homeland Security Investigations leading to a 37-month sentence for Diaz-Acedo.

- "United States v. Keivin Crosswell-Cervantes et al." saw multiple defendants sentenced for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine.

- In "United States v. Maria Mendoza-Mendoza," Mendoza-Mendoza was sentenced to ten years in prison for her role in human smuggling operations.

- "United States v. Jesus Ernesto Dessens-Romero" resulted in a conviction related to human smuggling leading to a migrant's death.

Other significant convictions include those of Peter Vega for drug trafficking leadership roles and Luis Salvador Flores who was intercepted en route to oversee a methamphetamine sale.

These efforts underscore the comprehensive strategy employed by OCDETF in tackling organized crime through multi-agency cooperation focused on intelligence-driven investigations.
