The U.S. Department of State has released its Fiscal Year 2024 demographic data through an interactive dashboard that features the Demographic Baseline Report (DBR). This report, available at state.gov/dbr, is updated annually and provides a detailed breakdown of the Department's Civil and Foreign Service workforce by race, ethnicity, sex, disability, grade/rank, and job series/skill codes.
The DBR includes census data to reflect America's diversity and incorporates information from the U.S. Department of Labor about potential hires in various job series skill codes. The dataset covers all full-time, permanent, career and non-career Civil Service and Foreign Service employees as of September 30, 2024. However, it does not include contractors, Locally Employed Staff, interns, Eligible Family Members, or Reemployed Annuitants.
By making this workforce data accessible to employees, Congress, and the public, the Department aims to demonstrate its commitment to accountability and equal opportunity for all employees. This initiative is part of efforts to ensure that every employee can fully contribute to protecting and promoting U.S. national security interests.
