Given the new requirement by the Secretary of Finance of Tamaulipas for Mexican citizens to update their vehicle license plate information, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Laredo Port of Entry is urging SENTRI participants with Mexican vehicles to register their new vehicle plate information through SENTRI. This measure aims to prevent any delays during border crossings.
“With the recent requirement to change license plates in the state of Tamaulipas, The Laredo Port of Entry Enrollment Center will be prepared to help SENTRI participants update their information in CBP systems, to ensure a smooth transition,” said Supervisor Karla Salinas from the Laredo Port of Entry.
To assist with this transition, the Laredo Port of Entry will allow a one-time entry through the SENTRI-designated facility at Gateway to the Americas Bridge. Participants are then required to report to the Laredo Enrollment Center at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge for updates. Upon entry, proof of SENTRI enrollment and relevant vehicle plate change information must be presented. Updates can also be made online at https://ttp.dhs.gov or through any port as a non-SENTRI participant.
Travelers are reminded they can check Border Wait Times online or via an app available on Apple App Store and Google Play for real-time updates on wait times, which are refreshed hourly.
For further assistance or inquiries, individuals can contact the Laredo Enrollment Center at 956-523-7399 or reach out directly to Supervisor Karla Salinas at 956-523-7319.
