United States Attorney Ronald C. Gathe, Jr. announced that Damond Reynard Lockett, 51, from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 105 months in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson delivered the sentence following Lockett's convictions for possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Lockett will also serve four years of supervised release after his imprisonment term ends. The court ordered the forfeiture of the firearms involved in the case.

The case stems from a search conducted on May 6, 2020, when narcotic detectives from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office executed a warrant at Lockett’s Bayou Fountain apartment. During this search, authorities found over 100 grams of a mixture containing heroin and fentanyl in his bathroom and a loaded firearm in his bedroom closet.

At the time of this offense, Lockett was on supervised release for a previous federal conviction from 2015 related to drug distribution charges in the Middle District of Louisiana.

The investigation was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Administration and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. Assistant United States Attorneys Eli Abad and Jessica Thornhill, who is also Deputy Chief of Economic Crimes, prosecuted the case.
